CHAMBERSBURG – Today, 31 January 2023, lifelong Franklin County resident, small business owner and veteran, Dean Horst, officially announced his bid for County Commissioner in the 2023 Republican Primary.
“As a Marine and small business owner, I embrace taking on complex issues and finding solutions,” said Horst. “We must preserve the Franklin County way of life so our children and grandchildren can stay and prosper here. Franklin County needs bold Conservative leadership to preserve that way of life. As County Commissioner, I`ll work efficiently and effectively to fight against burdensome regulations, preserve our open space and farmland, and crack down on deadly drugs that have taken the lives of too many of our residents.”
Over the coming weeks, Horst will announce specific plans of action on the issues that matter the most to Franklin County residents. Horst’s top priorities will include preserving farmland and fighting overdevelopment, ensuring elections are secure from fraud, and improving critical infrastructure.
Horst is a passionate supporter of the 2nd Amendment and is pro-life.
He graduated from Shalom Christian Academy in 1989. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines and deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Desert Storm. After his honorable service in the Marines, he worked his way up at a small family-owned business and together with his brother, they eventually took over ownership of Interstate Garage Doors in 2012. Thanks to his leadership and hard work, the company has since become the lead garage door company in the entire region.
Horst is happily married to his loving wife Loretta for almost 30 years. They reside in Chambersburg and have two children who are married.
