Horst, Flannery win BIG in Franklin Co. Commissioner Race

17 May 2023- In the most watched race in Franklin County called with unofficial results, incumbent Commissioner John Flannery and newcomer Dean Horst cruise to victory in a race that saw outside SuperPACs and significant amounts of cash flowing into the county.

Dean Horst, business owner of Interstate Garage Doors and Vet completed his first race ever, finishing with the most votes of any Republican candidate with 10,569, or 35.14% of the vote. His running mate, current Commissioner John Flannery, came in second with 29.65% of the votes totaling 8,919. Both candidates advance to the November General Election where they will take on the two Democrat candidates, current Commissioner Bob Ziobrowski and schoolteacher and Franklin County Democratic Committee Chair Cameron Schroy. Schroy and Ziobrowski ran unopposed for the primary.

Incumbent Commissioner David Keller has seemingly lost his seat on Franklin County’s Board of Commissioners, with just over half of the votes that Horst received at 5,524, or 18.36%. Business owner and activist Lori Rice came just behind Keller with 4,988 votes or 16.58% of the total.
